A National Movement
Bright Start began in Washington when Marcus and Michael Kang started assembling dental kits for classmates missing school over untreated decay. It has since delivered thousands of kits nationwide.
Our California chapter carries that model forward — student-led, community-first, multilingual, and always free.
The need
Tooth decay is the #1 chronic illness among children.
In the neighborhoods surrounding our Los Angeles partner schools, many families can't easily access a dentist — and untreated decay keeps kids out of class, in pain, and behind their peers.
Bright Start California is a student-led chapter bringing supplies, education, and a community that shows up — translated into every language our schools speak at home.
